Swan Hill Rural City Council is inviting residents, community groups and local organisations to share their ideas for projects, initiatives and programs to be considered in the development of the 2026/27 Council Budget.
Acting CEO Bruce Myers said Council's annual budget plays a critical role in guiding how resources are allocated across the municipality.
"The budget outlines how funding is used to deliver essential services, maintain infrastructure and support initiatives that strengthen our community," Mr Myers said.
"For the 2026/27 Budget, we've committed to commencing consultation earlier to give the community more opportunity to have their say. We want to ensure that community voices play a central role in shaping our future priorities," Mr Myers said.
Mayor Cr Stuart King said the submission process was an important way for people to actively influence Council's planning and decision-making.
"We want to hear what matters most to you - whether it's new facilities, programs to support young people and families, or improvements to open spaces and community infrastructure, all ideas are welcomed," Cr King said.
"Local knowledge and ideas are vital to building a strong, vibrant and resilient region. Every submission we receive helps us make better-informed decisions that reflect the needs of our community," Cr King said.
Cr King said ideas could range from small-scale community projects through to larger infrastructure initiatives, with all suggestions considered as part of the budget development process.
"Council is committed to delivering projects that not only meet current needs but also contribute to the long-term growth, sustainability and liveability of our municipality," he said.
All project suggestions will be evaluated for their alignment with Council's established plans and strategies, including the 4-Year Council Plan.
Submissions for the 2026/27 Budget are now open and will close on Friday, 7 November 2025.
