Council Seeks Community Input On 2026-2027 Budget

Planning for Corangamite Shire's 2026-2027 Budget is underway, and Council is calling on residents, businesses and community groups to share their priorities.

People can comment now with their proposals to the Budget, which will guide Council's spending for the coming financial year.

Mayor Cr Kate Makin says there are two ways people can comment online – through a general survey ranking their priorities, or through a form to propose specific projects.

"We're at the very beginning of planning the 2026-2027 Budget, and this is the perfect time for you to share your ideas," Cr Makin said.

"We want to hear from the community about what's important for the year ahead," she said.

Council will use the feedback in developing the Draft Budget, which will go out for public comment in May.

But Cr Makin urged the community to share their ideas during the initial consultation, when public input can shape the budget as it develops.

"Sharing ideas now ensures they're part of the conversation from the start.

"Even if a project doesn't make it into the Budget, your input is vital. It shows us what's important to you and helps shape decisions for the future."

Submissions are open now at conversations.corangamite.vic.gov.au/budget2026

The consultation closes on Friday 30 January.

Residents can also contact their local ward councillor to discuss their budget priorities.
