Council staff who are working for you this Christmas - Wollongong

It's the end of the year and we know that all you can think about is the summer holidays.

Before you completely relax, we want to share information about the key Council services that will still be operating over Christmas and the New Year.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that there are a number of Council staff who will be working throughout the next couple of weeks to make sure that your City is beautiful, clean and ready for the holidays.

"Council will be working hard this Christmas and New Year to maintain services and keep things as clean as possible. With expectations of large numbers of locals as well as visitors using our beaches, pools, parks and outdoor facilities we're preparing to meet the demand to keep the City well serviced."

"Bins, public toilet cleans, beach and pool Lifeguard patrols and the Wollongong Library are some of the services that will continue on a limited capacity over the next few weeks. It's going to be a busy end of the year, so we ask that you remain patient as our staff do their job."

"I ask everyone to help us by doing the right thing with waste and litter by putting it in the bin or taking your rubbish home with you. With your help we'll be able to keep our City in good shape."

Council's Customer Service and Call Centre will close from 1pm Thursday 24 December 2020 and reopen Monday 4 January 2021. For urgent matters, contact the After-Hours service on (02) 4227 7111.

Beaches & Pools

Here in Wollongong, we have over 17 beaches, 6 freshwater pools and 3 saltwater pools that are patrolled by our professional Lifeguards. Every swim season our Lifeguard numbers swells up to 75 at our beaches and 80 or more at our pools to cover all the hours of operation.

With this summer expected to be a busy one, we've recruited several additional Lifeguards to our team to help us look out for you when you're in the water.
