Council supports ecotourism industry with fee waiver

Council is continuing to lend its support to the ecotourism industry to ease the financial burden following COVID-19 restrictions.

Council has agreed to waive ecotourism licence scheme renewal and usage fees for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 financial years, including reimbursing fees already paid during this time.

"This is an industry that has continued to experience economic hardship resulting from the impact of bushfires, followed by continued COVID-19 closures," Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill said.

"To compensate for this, Council has deemed it appropriate to waive fees and charges across a number of areas to support business through this time and we are now applying this to our licensed ecotourism operators.

"It's important that we support each through these difficult times. It helps the whole community when we act to help those most affected so we can re-build our economy, incentivise business to get back on their feet and come out of hardship, stronger and more resilient than ever."
