Council welcomes new events Coordinator

Griffith City Council is excited to announce the appointment of Georgina Horton to the role of Events Coordinator.

Ms Horton brings a wealth of local knowledge to the position, having finished her senior schooling years in Leeton before moving to Canberra to complete her studies in Tourism, Events and Sports Management.

She began her career at the Australian War Memorial in the Events and Ceremonies Team where she coordinated National Anzac Day, Remembrance Day ceremonies and Welcome Home Parades and has also worked on large-scale sporting events with the National Rugby Union.

Before moving to Griffith Ms Horton worked in Mudgee at a boutique winery, Burnbrae Wines, focusing on marketing, social media and events that took place at the winery.

Ms Horton is looking forward to exploring the potential for new tourism events and attractions to enhance what already exists in the region.

"I am really excited to be working with the Griffith Tourism Team and to be able to use my skills to enhance current events and help drive new opportunities," she said.

Tourism Manager, Mirella Guidolin is thrilled to have Georgina join the Tourism Team at Council.

"Griffith and surrounds has so much to offer visitors and locals alike and our vision is to really put Griffith on the map by promoting our unique events," Ms Guidolin said.
