Councillor Carmelo Pesce has been re-elected Mayor at a special meeting of Sutherland Shire Council on Monday 24 September 2018, with Councillor Steve Simpson elected as Deputy Mayor.
Councillors voted on the positions of Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the 2018/19 term, electing Councillor Pesce for his third consecutive term as Mayor.
Councillor Pesce said it’s an honour to represent the Sutherland Shire community as Mayor.
"I would like to thank Councillors for voting for me and I commit to continuing an open and transparent office for my third consecutive term as Mayor," Councillor Pesce said.
"I commit to working tirelessly for all residents and members of the Sutherland Shire community.
"For me it’s back to business and I want to make sure the next two years we achieve even more than we have over the last 3 years."
