Council's Community Grants Applications Opening Soon

Ararat Rural City Council is excited to announce that applications for a new round of its Community Support Grants Program will open on Monday 1 September 2025.

The program provides funding to clubs, organisations and community groups to support local programs, projects, activities, and events.

Local groups are encouraged to submit applications for grants of up to $5,000 on a two-for-one basis across four distinct categories: sports/recreation and health/well-being, culture and arts, environment and sustainability, and events.

In the last round, Council awarded a total of $28,410 in Community Support Grants to nine local organisations to support several key projects and initiatives, including:

  • Ararat Neighbourhood House for the Punjabi Indian Community Annual Festival
  • Ararat Show Society Inc for the installation of 15-amp power points and Sensor Light at the Ararat Showgrounds
  • Australian Plant Society Grampians Group for the Pomonal Native Flower Show
  • Chalambar Golf Club for the Native Shrub and Tree Planting Project
  • Lake Bolac Eel Festival for the 2026 Lake Bolac Eel Festival
  • Moyston Progress Association to spread awareness of the facilities at Moyston Recreation Reserve by installing appropriate signage visible to passing tourists
  • Moyston Public Parks Committee of Management for the replacement of the inside chairs which are used by various community groups
  • Scouts Victoria - Ararat Scout Group for purchasing new camping equipment; and
  • The Willaura and District Community Development Group for the Willaura Lions Club Playground Upgrade

"We offer Community Support Grants to help our local groups and clubs with projects and upgrades that make Ararat Rural City a better place to live," said Ararat Rural City Council CEO, Dr Tim Harrison.

"This program proudly supports community-led initiatives to help increase engagement in sports and recreation, cultural events, arts accessibility, and sustainability initiatives."

Applications for the Council's Community Support Grants are open until 5pm on 30 September 2025. Interested groups can apply online at www.ararat.vic.gov.au or obtain hard copy applications from municipal offices.
