As Kempsey emerges from lockdown, so do most of Kempsey Shire Council's services and facilities that have been impacted by NSW Health's Public Health Order.

With the Kempsey Shire released from lockdown restrictions at 12:01am on Saturday 11 September, Council will resume many of its services and facilities, which will all operate in a COVID-safe manner.

Residents can visit the Customer Service Centre in person on weekdays between 8.30am and 4.30pm but in doing so must wear a mask and check in. The Mobile Service Desk that visits towns and villages across the shire between 10am and 2pm on Wednesday's will resume its schedule from 22 September arriving in Stuarts Point.

For residents who used the lockdown period to give their homes a spring clean, all of Council's waste facilities are open including the ReUse Shop at the Waste Management Centre, which is open from Monday 13 September. The Community Recycling Centre trailer will also resume its service on a revised schedule.

Council has taken the opportunity during lockdown to bring forward the major renovation of the Kempsey Library. Therefore, while the South West Rocks and Stuarts Point libraries will reopen from Tuesday 14 September the Kempsey branch will not reopen until Monday 20 September and this will be with reduced services.

The community can look forward to the reopening of the shire's public spaces including amenities, sports fields, swimming pools, barbecues and community halls.

The Slim Dusty Centre and the Kempsey and South West Rocks Visitor Information Centres will remain closed.

Council wants to remind residents that while some services and facilities have resumed, these will operate in compliance with relevant COVID-19 restrictions and asks residents to follow rules set out by NSW Health.
