Following this ruling, Labor's so-called 'huge expansion of random knife search powers' is in complete disarray and frontline Victoria Police officers have been left without the powers they need to keep the community safe.
For months, the Liberals and Nationals have advocated for the introduction of Jack's Law into Victoria - a legislative model that has successfully prevented and reduced knife crime in other jurisdictions around Australia.
However, the Allan Labor Government has repeatedly refused and blocked the introduction of these laws into Victoria.
Under Premier Jacinta Allan, criminal offending has risen by 25 per cent, the number of full-time Victoria Police officers has been reduced, and 43 police stations remain closed or on reduced operating hours as net debt continues to climb by $1.7 million an hour.
Shadow Minister for Police, Brad Battin, said: "Under Premier Jacinta Allan, crime is up, police numbers are down and communities are less safe.
"Labor has botched these laws and left frontline Victoria Police officers without the powers and resources they need to keep Victorians safe.
"Jack's Law has been proven to work in other jurisdictions around Australia - why does Labor continue to block its introduction in Victoria?
"Labor can't manage money, can't manage community safety and Victorians are paying the price"
