COVID-19 diagnoses for Darwin women

Department of the Chief Minister

Two Darwin women in their 40s who recently returned from overseas have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) today.

The first woman had been in the Philippines before returning to Darwin on flight QF840 from Sydney on Friday 27 March 2020.

NT Public Health will contact those passengers who had been sitting close to the woman on this flight.

The second woman had recently returned from a cruise in Europe on the MSC Fantasia.

Under national medical guidelines, contact tracing on her flights is not required due to the delay between her return and becoming unwell.

Both women had followed self-quarantine requirements before becoming unwell and are now in Royal Darwin Hospital.

Seventeen COVID-19 cases have been diagnosed in the Northern Territory, 15 of whom are Territorians.
