COVID mandatory isolation period to end

National Road Transport Association

National Cabinet's recent decision to end mandatory isolation for people diagnosed with COVID-19 takes effect from 14 October 2022. The decision will be translated into action by each State and Territory through their COVID rules.

NatRoad will provide an updated COVID Bulletin when the rules are known. But employers should stick with their COVID safe plans particularly as the medical evidence is mixed on the issue.

In other words, employers should ensure that if a person has COVID-19 they do not attend the workplace, as it may adversely affect other workers and customers, as well as having a return-to-work period stipulated in their COVID safe plan.

This obligation links with an employer's general WHS duty. Employers are likely to have policies that cover what should occur when a worker is ill other than with COVID which would apply.
