Coward Punch in Surfers Paradise, QLD

Police have charged three men following an incident in Surfers Paradise in the early hours of yesterday morning where a man was allegedly assaulted, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged around 3.20am, three men have surrounded a 19-year-old man on the corner of Orchid Avenue and Cavil Avenue and commenced punching and kicking him.

It will be further alleged that one of the men, a 19-year-old Upper Coomera man, has punched the 19-year-old man from the side causing him to fall unconscious to the ground.

He was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Police have charged the 19-year-old Upper Coomera man with one count of assault occasioning bodily hard and one count of contravention of banning order.

The two other men involved, both 21 years old from Cootharaba have been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst in company.

All three men are due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on the morning of December 8.
