Cr George Weston Reelected as Deputy Mayor

Leeton Shire Council

At its September Ordinary Council meeting, Cr George Weston was reelected as Council's Deputy Mayor for the remaining term of the current Council.

Last year, given that Local Government elections were postponed until September 2021 to address the risks posed by COVID-19, the Deputy Mayor was elected for one year.

COVID-19 remains an issue in 2021 and the Local Government elections have been postponed for a further three months, necessitating the election of a Deputy Mayor for the remainder of the extended Council term.

Mayor Paul Maytom congratulated Cr George Weston on being reelected as Deputy Mayor for the remaining Council term.

Cr George Weston thanked his fellow Councillors for their ongoing support and confidence in him.

"I am pleased to continue in the role and, once again, will do my best to support the Mayor who works tirelessly for the residents of Leeton Shire."

The next Local Government Elections will be held on 4 December 2021.
