Cr Jason Schram Re-elected Mayor Of Colac Otway Shire Council

Colac Otway Shire Council has re-elected Cr Jason Schram as Mayor for the second year of its four-year term. Cr Schram will serve as Mayor for one year.

The local businessman and father of three held the role of Mayor for two years in 2019 and 2020 during a previous term on Council.

Councillors also voted to re-elect Cr Phil Howard as Deputy Mayor for the term of one year.

Cr Schram said it was an "honour and a privilege" to serve as Mayor of Colac Otway Shire.

"I'd like to thank my fellow Councillors for electing me as Mayor again. I take it as an honour and a privilege to be Mayor.

"Last year was my third term as Mayor and it's been by far the most productive in the way we've all worked together," he said.

"The feedback I receive from the community is that everyone's working exceptionally well. Making more efficient meetings and decisions has been a highlight.

"I don't take this position for granted and I will again endeavour to do my best to lead the Colac Otway Shire as Mayor for the entire community.

"Thank you to everyone that's supported me, in particular my wife Brooke and my three children, Jack, Ava and Ruby who give me support and love to be able to do this role for the community," Cr Schram said.

Cr Howard also thanked Councillors for re-electing him to the position of Deputy Mayor.

"I'd like to thank my fellow Councillors. It is a privilege and an honour to be elected Deputy Mayor and I take the role very seriously.

"I'm looking forward to tackling some of the big strategic project work, and especially advocacy issues that we'll all agree on to get State and Federal Government support.

"There is a lot more work to do. I am confident this group of Councillors will make appropriate decisions and we'll have a stellar year ahead of us," Cr Howard said.
