Crash - Yarrawonga

Police would like to remind motorists to ensure their vehicle is roadworthy and to drive to conditions during the wet season following a serious crash in Yarrawonga overnight.

A black Holden Commodore ute collided with a light post on Stuart Highway, Yarrawonga, just before midnight last night. The 18-year-old passenger suffered injuries and was extricated by NT Fire & Rescue. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The 18-year-old driver tested positive to a roadside breath test and bloods were taken for analysis.

Preliminary investigations indicate that intoxication, bald tyres and failure to drive to the wet weather conditions may have contributed to the crash.

Investigations are continuing.
