Creating Jobs and Boosting Tourism: Round 2 Events & Festival Funding Now Open

Minister for Tourism and Culture, Lauren Moss today announced the second round of NT Major Events Company (NTMEC) funding, to boost the Territorys event offerings and supporting the local economy.

The Territory Labor Government is investing almost $1.3 million in festivals and events across the Territory in 2018/2019.

This bi-annual Event funding supports events that attract (or have the potential to attract) visitors and showcase the Northern Territory.

Two funding streams are available:

  • Event Development Funding - for innovative changes and additions to event programs that drive visitation
  • Strategic Development Funding - for events to build capability, sustainability and deliver a safe event environment.

Fourteen events across the Territory, encompassing sport, arts, food, military commemorations and Indigenous culture, received funding in Round One in 2018/19 (May to August) including the 50th Tiwi Islands Football League Grand Final in 2020, Taste of Kakadu and the National Indigenous Music Awards (NIMAS).

Round 2 is now open, closing on Friday 30 November, for events being held between March 2019 and March 2020.
