Minister for Workforce Training, Selena Uibo, will lead an industry delegation to India and Nepal to promote the Northern Territory as a study destination in our two largest education import markets.
International education is a priority growth sector. Bringing more international students will diversify the economy and create jobs for Territorians.
There are currently 2600 international students enrolled in NT education institutions and the Territory Labor Government is aiming to boost those numbers to more than 10,000 by 2025.
Analysis undertaken by Deloitte in 2017 found each student contributes an average $37,400 to the Territory economy.
Nepal and India are the top two countries of origin for international students in the Territory, representing 18 per cent and 13 per cent of the overseas student population respectively.
Ms Uibo leaves today on a week-long delegation to the two countries, and takes with her six international education and training providers, who will meet with education agents to promote the NT as a study destination for high quality Australian qualifications.

The Territory Labor Governments number one priority is jobs for Territorians.
International education is already the Territorys third largest service industry export sector, contributing $91 million to our economy last year, and as the Capital of Northern Australia, we are in an excellent position to grow this market, particularly with our Asian neighbours.
The Territory provides high quality education for those who come here and a new Charles Darwin University campus in the Darwin CBD, which will be built over the next seven years as part of the historic, $200 million Cities Deal signed last year, will make Darwin an attractive study option.
Internationals students not only support local jobs in a wide variety of sectors, from hospitality and tourism, to our service industries, they strengthen cultural, social and economic ties, and contribute to vibrant social and cultural precincts.
