Cremorne Planning Moves Forward After Council Push

Yarra City Council

The Victorian Government have given Council consent to consult with the community on new planning controls for Cremorne, following extensive advocacy efforts by Council. They have also approved interim planning controls to manage development while we undertake the amendment process.

Amendment C317yara applies interim built form and design controls to three commercial areas in Cremorne: Cremorne West, Railway and Church Street, as outlined in the map below.

Draft Amendment C318yara is required to implement the Cremorne Urban Design Framework. Council developed the Cremorne UDF to guide the growth, development, and character of Cremorne.

Through C318yara, Council is proposing to introduce permanent built form, design and parking controls for the commercial areas in Cremorne. It also introduces a new planning policy for the broader Cremorne area.

Yarra City Council will be seeking public feedback on the draft Amendment C318yara in early November, along with the revised Cremorne Urban Design Framework.

Council has been calling on the Victorian Government to act on these amendments and are grateful to see this important progress.
