Cricket Victoria welcomes Victorian Government cricket funding commitments

Cricket Victoria is delighted to be able to continue its partnership with the Andrews Labor Government following its commitment of $13.6 million over the next four years in the 2019 Victorian Budget to continue improvements to community cricket facilities across Victoria.

The funding implements the Government's election commitment announced in November 2018.

The funding will help to improve grassroots cricket infrastructure across the state, providing much needed upgrades to nets, pitches, changerooms and playing surfaces.

It will also help create new metropolitan cricket centres at up to six locations across greater metropolitan Melbourne.

The cricket centres will provide a hub for cricket in the areas and reduce travel times and costs for families who currently have to travel to participate in our pathway programs. The centres will also be a hub for our multicultural, LGBTI and all abilities programs.

Cricket Victoria CEO Andrew Ingleton welcomed the new funding.

"We have a long-term and highly successful partnership with the Victorian Government which continues to deliver for the Victorian cricket community. This $13.6 million funding commitment will see a range of facilities built, upgraded or improved to ensure players have access to quality facilities that benefits their involvement in cricket. We want our cricket fans to have the best and we're working with the Victorian Government to make that a reality."

The funding from the Government builds on its $10 million commitment to community infrastructure and regional cricket centres in the 2014 election and its $25 million contribution to the construction of the CitiPower Centre at Junction Oval.
