Crime series - man arrested after lengthy investigation, South Australia

Detectives from Western District CIB have charged a man as part of an investigation into a spate of business break-ins over the past 12 months.

Between March 2020 and March 2021, 29 businesses were broken into and property stolen within the Adelaide metropolitan area, Goolwa and Hahndorf where cash was targeted.

Following a recent break-in at a Brighton bakery on Saturday 20 March, detectives from Western District CIB in company with members of Southern District CIB and STAR Operations, searched a home at Plympton Park the following day, locating property stolen from the bakery and objects used in the commission of the offence.

A 47-year-old Morphett Vale man was arrested at the address and charged with 29 counts of serious criminal trespass and 20 counts of theft. He was refused bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

Investigations are continuing.
