About 4.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 13 August 2025), officers attached to Raptor North Highway Patrol - with assistance from officers attached to the Organised Crime Squad and Raptor North - stopped a 4WD at Twelve Mile Creek.

Police searched the vehicle and located and seized a privately manufactured semi-automatic firearm, a firearm silencer, an amount of ammunition, mobile phones and approximately 65g of cocaine.

The driver - a 60-year-old man - and his passenger - a 39-year-old man - were arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station.

Both men were charged with possess unregistered unauthorised prohibited firearm in public place, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority and supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity.
