Criminal damage to traffic camera vehicle in Fawkner

Police are appealing for public assistance following criminal damage to a traffic camera vehicle in Fawkner yesterday evening.

It is understood a traffic camera car was parked on Major Road about 5pm.

Police were told a man was walking on the opposite side of the road, crossed and approached the driver's side of the vehicle, before slashing the rear tyre.

The man then damaged the front tyre and fled the scene on foot.

Investigators were told he ran away in an eastbound direction on the southern side of Major Road.

The operator of the vehicle was not injured.

The man is described as about 175cm tall, aged between 30 and 40. He was wearing a grey hoodie and trackpants.

Investigators have released footage of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
