Critical Incident Declared After Man's Death - Sadlier

A critical incident investigation is underway following the death of man in Sydney's south west.

About 4.05pm today (Friday 19 September 2025), police were called to a house on Bligh Avenue, Lurnea, following reports of a domestic assault.

Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command attended and were told a 58-year-old woman was seriously assaulted by a man known to her.

He left the scene prior to the arrival of police.

The woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital with serious injuries.

Police commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

About 5.20pm, police attended an address on Spica Street, Sadlier, where NSW Ambulance paramedics were treating a 60-year-old man.

Following further inquiries, police arrested the man at the scene.

He was then transported to Westmead Hospital for further treatment, where he was declared deceased shortly after arriving.

Crime scenes were established at both locations and a critical incident team from Auburn Police Area Command will investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.

The investigation will be subject of an independent review by the Professional Standards Command and oversight by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
