Cross Court: Tennis from a new angle

Tennis fans will experience the sport from a whole new angle when Cross Court – a magazine style show dedicated to the great game – premieres Sunday, October 13 at 11.00am on Nine and 9Now.

Hosted by legend of the sport and winner of 22 Grand Slam doubles titles, Todd Woodbridge, Cross Court will bring you the latest news from the world of tennis, as well as player profiles, grassroots initiatives and classic moments from yesteryear, as we build towards the 2020 Australian Open.

Additional reporting will be provided by Aussie superstars Jelena Dokic, Dylan Alcott and Sam Groth.

In our first episode, world No. 1 and Australia’s sweetheart, Ash Barty, will share with us her personal journey from Ipswich in Queensland to becoming the best player in the world.

We’ll travel to Darwin where a unique workshop combines tennis with indigenous culture, providing opportunities for not only elite indigenous tennis players but those trying the sport for the first time.

Our player profile this week will feature reigning Australian Open champion and world No. 4, Naomi Osaka.

We’ll also provide a rundown on the all new ATP Cup and explain how the format works. The most exciting new event in world tennis will see 24 countries battle it out for the new world title in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney from 3 to 12 January.

Foodies will enjoy our visit to Stokehouse and Matilda restaurants, both of which will be offering dining packages at next year’s Australian Open.

Plus we take a look back at Jim Courier’s 1992 Australian Open win, after which he famously took a dip in Melbourne’s Yarra River.

Cross Court is produced in collaboration with Tennis Australia.
