Crucial upgrades for Flinders Street pathways

Townsville City Council is upgrading the pathway on the southern side of Flinders Street fronting 534 and 546 Flinders Street.

Works started on Tuesday 8 November, and construction is expected to take four weeks total, dependant on weather conditions.

Infrastructure Services Committee Chair Kurt Rehbein said the works will include construction of a new exposed aggregate concrete pathway that will match in neatly to existing driveways

"This project will improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians within Townsville City and promote walking to encourage a fitter, healthier and happier community," Cr Rehbein said.

Council is also upgrading the associated bus stop and shelter, installing appropriate road safety signage as required and returfing and mulching the work site as needed.
