Curtin University has jumped into the world's top 300 universities, according to the CWTS Leiden Ranking 2019 released overnight.
Curtin has been ranked 284th in the world, an improvement of 35 places, in the latest ranking which measures university performance based on scientific impact and collaboration across almost 1000 major universities worldwide.
Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said she was delighted with the latest ranking result confirming the University's strong research performance.
"The latest CWTS Leiden Ranking places Curtin among the top 300 universities in the world and confirms the University's national ranking as ninth in Australia," Professor Terry said.
"This is an outstanding result and demonstrates the University's commitment to scientific collaboration and making an impact through scientific research that makes a real difference to people's lives."
Professor Terry said Curtin recorded a 10 per cent increase in the number of research publications that demonstrated a strong scientific impact and a 13 per cent improvement in those highlighting scientific collaboration.
The CWTS Leiden Ranking 2019 ranks impact and collaboration according to the size of research publication output of all sciences for the period of 2014 to 2017.
The global ranking is based on data from Web of Science, compiled by Clarivate Analytics.
