The Turnbull Government is streamlining aged care accommodation approvals, so that providers can continue to focus on their core business of caring and supporting senior Australians.
The Minister for Aged Care, Ken Wyatt AM, said the new accommodation price renewal system would simplify the process for providers not seeking to increase their charges, when their approvals lapse.
"We have listened to the sector and are committed to red tape reduction across aged care," Minister Wyatt said.
"The care and safety of residents is the Government’s absolute priority and we will not compromise but where we can make processes more effective and streamlined we will."
Providers charging residents more than $550,000 for a refundable accommodation deposit (RAD) must renew their approval through the Aged Care Pricing Commissioner every four years.
"This is part of the Turnbull Government’s red tape reduction agenda," said Minister Wyatt. "Under the new system, those who are not seeking to increase prices or change accommodation groups will now be able to complete a much shorter, simplified renewal application.
"Providing high-quality care is the top priority, not spending hours completing unnecessarily onerous application forms."
