Cyclist dies following crash in North Wollongong

A cyclist has died following a crash at North Wollongong overnight, NSW Police said.

Emergency services were called to Bourke Street about 8pm Thursday, after a cyclist and vehicle collided.

The 54-year-old male cyclist was taken to Wollongong Hospital with serious head injuries. He died a short time later.

Officers from Wollongong Local Area Command established a crime scene on Bourke Street and commenced inquiries.

The male driver wasn’t injured but was taken to hospital to undergo mandatory blood and urine testing.

An investigation into the incident is underway and police are urging anyone who witnessed it to come forward.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
