Cyclist killed in Burnside Heights

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are on the scene of a fatal collision which occurred in Burnside Heights this morning (1 July).

It is believed a cyclist riding along Westwood Drive was struck by a Holden sedan about 12.20am.

A 20-year-old man from Burnside Heights who was driving the vehicle, stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

The cyclist, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The cause of the collision is yet to be determined and the investigation remains ongoing.

Westwood Drive has been closed between Tenterfield Drive and Fydler Avenue while the scene is being examined.
