Cyclist seriously injured in Wollongong

A cyclist has been seriously injured following a crash at Wollongong today, NSW Police say.

About 6am tomorrow, emergency services were called to Ajax Avenue, North Wollongong following reports of a crash between a cyclist and a truck.

The cyclist, a 54-year-old woman, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wollongong Hospital, then transferred to St George Hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

The driver of the truck, age unknown at this stage, was not injured. He was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Officers from Wollongong Local Area Command, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and Crash Investigation Unit are in attendance to investigate the incident.

Emergency services and traffic crews remain on scene.

Traffic diversions are currently in place.
