The Tasmanian Liberal Government believes every Tasmanian deserves to lead an active and healthy lifestyle, and we are doing everything we can to encourage and support this.
This is why I'm very pleased to announce that the 2022-23 Ticket to Play program will be expanded to include dance from 1 August 2022.
Dance schools, studios and clubs will need to meet the eligibility criteria to become Approved Activity Providers under the program:
All dance providers must:
- Either be incorporated, not-for-profit entities or hold an active Australian Business Number (ABN);
- hold the appropriate public liability insurance;
- run programs for 6 or more weeks;
- have the appropriate processes in place to ensure compliance with the Working with Vulnerable People 2013 Act; and
- confirm they meet to child safety requirements.
A communications strategy is being drafted with marketing and promotional advertising to be distributed to dance providers across Tasmania in coming weeks.
Communities, Sport and Recreation will hold online sessions for dance providers explaining the application process and providing advice about the eligibility requirements.
I am excited about the inclusion of dance as an activity under Ticket to Play, a very successful program that has helped offset the cost of joining sporting clubs and trying new activities for children aged five to 18 years.
More than 14,000 vouchers were issued in 2021-22 and the inclusion of dance will hopefully see more parents and carers applying for and redeeming vouchers in 2022-23.
