Dandenong North aggravated burglary

Detectives from Greater Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit are investigating an aggravated burglary in Dandenong North on the weekend, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told two victims, a man and a woman, were watching TV when an unknown offender smashed a bedroom window about 10pm on Sunday evening.

The 45-year-old Dandenong North man opened the front door to investigate where a number of men attempted to force their way in.

A struggle ensued as the man attempted to block them from entering the home.

The woman aged 44 and also from Dandenong North, ran to his aid and the pair managed to force the group back out of the house who then fled empty handed.

The man was struck over the head with an unknown object during the incident and the woman sustained an injury to her hand.

Both were taken to hospital for treatment with minor injuries.

Three children, aged 11, 12, and 17-year-old were present at the time and were uninjured.

Investigators believe the group consisted of three males and a female, all perceived to be of African appearance, and all wearing hooded tops and face coverings.
