Greater Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man in relation to an incident in Dandenong on 10 September.
It is alleged a Doveton woman was shopping at a McCrae Street shopping complex when a man grabbed her hand bag out of her shopping trolley shortly before 9.15am.
The victim, a 76-year-old woman, grabbed the bag back and a struggle ensued before the man fled the scene empty handed.
As a result of the incident the victim sustained an injury to her hand.
A 42-year-old Dandenong man has been charged with attempted theft and unlawful assault and bailed to appear in Dandenong Magistrates' Court on 17 November.
