Dangerous driving charge in Bethania, QLD

A man has been charged with multiple driving offences following a traffic crash last night in Bethania, Queensland Police say.

At 5.50pm, it will be alleged a car was involved in a traffic crash with a truck at a supermarket carpark in Bethania. The impact caused the bonnet of the car to lift up and it allegedly crashed into a second vehicle before driving away.

The car was then allegedly involved in a further, four-vehicle traffic crash at a major intersection before being involved in a third crash on Waterford Tamborine Road.

The vehicle was sighted by police on Nerang Street, Waterford still driving with its bonnet over the windscreen however it allegedly failed to stop.

A second attempt was made at 6pm to halt the vehicle however it will be alleged the vehicle crossed onto the incorrect side of Kingston Road, through a red light and began driving against the traffic flow.

Just after 6pm, the vehicle was sighted by the same officers headed eastbound on Albert Street, Waterford at low speed due to mechanical issues and it eventually stopped in King Arthur Boulevard, Bethania.

A 26-year-old Beenleigh man has since been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of fail to stop a motor vehicle and one count each of assault police and drink driving.

He is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on March 21.
