Dangerous driving charges, Gold Coast

Gold Coast police have charged two people following an alleged evade police and dangerous driving incident on the Gold Coast Saturday, April 22, Queensland Police say.

Around 12:15pm police attempted to intercept a vehicle on Nerang Street in Southport. It will be alleged the vehicle failed to stop and drove away from police, travelling north.

The vehicle was sighted in the carpark of a bottle shop on Heathwood Drive in Oxenford at about 12:50pm.

It will be further alleged when police attempted to intercept the vehicle in the car park it drove into three vehicles, including two police cars before fleeing along Heathwood Drive.

The vehicle was located abandoned on Fawn Street in Upper Coomera.

A 35 year-old Helensvale woman has been issued a Notice to Appear for unlicensed driving, and driving an unregistered vehicle.

A 26-year-old Gold Coast man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fail to comply with duties of a driver involved in a crash, unlicensed driving disqualified by a court, unregistered driving, fail to stop motor vehicle, possess tainted property, possess anything for use in a commission of a crime, possess restricted drug, stealing, burglary and commit and indictable offence, assault or obstruct police and two counts each of offences involving registration plates, possess dangerous drug, enter premises and commit and three counts of receiving tainted property.

He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow April 25, 2017.

Investigations are continuing.
