Police have arrested five teenagers after a stolen vehicle collided with a police vehicle at Nerang overnight, 5 October.
Around 3:10am, officers were patrolling along Riverview Road when they sighted a stolen Hyundai Elantra and a BMW X6 travelling in convoy at speed along the road.
A short time later, another police vehicle was patrolling further up Riverview Road in the opposite direction and was spotted by the lead Hyundai, who braked heavily
The BMW, travelling behind the Hyundai, collided with the back of the Hyundai and propelled forward striking the oncoming police vehicle. The Hyundai was pushed forward and crashed into a nearby parked vehicle.
The occupants of both the BMW and Hyundai then fled the vehicles on foot but were taken into custody shortly afterwards.
The single occupant of the police vehicle, a male sergeant, was transported to hospital for assessment.
It will be alleged that the BMW was stolen from an Upper Coomera address earlier that evening, and the Hyundai was stolen from an Underwood address on 3 October.
A 14-year-old Coomera boy, a 14-year-old Durack boy, a 13-year-old Pimpama boy, a 14-year-old Pimpama boy, and a 13-year-old Stretton girl are all assisting police with their enquiries.
