Dangerous operation charges at Morayfield, QLD

Police have charged two men with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle offences after an incident at Morayfield today, Queensland Police say.

Around 9.10am, officers patrolling observed a stolen red Holden Cruze in Walkers Road when it drove towards police, sideswiping the rear left quarter panel.

Police in a second police vehicle were forced to take evasive action as the sedan accelerated towards them.

Two police vehicle initially attempted to intercept the vehicle, however the driver is alleged to have evaded officers at that time.

A short time later police were able to arrest the passenger in the rear yard of a nearby property. The driver was arrested by police after a short pursuit and was taken into custody without incident.

A 26-year-old Caboolture South man has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 38-year-old man from Morayfield has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and driving without a license.

Both men are expected to appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court tomorrow (January 6).

The Holden Cruze was stolen from a Hillmont Crescent address in Morayfield this morning.
