Dangerous operation of a vehicle, Southport

A man is in custody following an alleged dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and evading police at the Gold Coast last night.

Around 7.30pm, a white Holden Commodore evaded police southbound on the M1 at Stapylton. The vehicle was then observed and tracked by PolAir 1 as it drove to Surfers Paradise.

The vehicle travelled north on the Gold Coast Highway to Southport and was successfully stung with a tyre deflation device.

The driver travelled through a red traffic light and struck a car containing two people.

He then drove into a park and was taken into custody by police.

QAS attended and the driver of the Commodore and both people from the second vehicle were transported to the Gold Coast Hospital for observation.

Anyone who may have dash cam of the incident is urged to contact police. Investigations are continuing.
