Dangerous Operation Of Motor Vehicle, Yatala

Police have charged a 21-year-old Coorparoo man following an alleged dangerous driving and hooning-related incident in Yatala this morning, 6 September.

Just before 12:30am on Saturday, police conducting patrols in the area were informed about alleged hooning occurring on the Pacific Motorway.

As officers arrived, a silver Ford Falcon sedan allegedly accelerated away at speed and was monitored before being intercepted by police on Logan Road, Loganholme.

The driver allegedly fled on foot with three occupants before being taken into custody on the side of a service road at Loganholme a short time later.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, has been charged with one count each of unlawful conduct participate in hooning group activity, drive without due care and attention , evasion offence at night in company, registered operator failed to ensure each number plate visible, dangerous operation of a vehicle with two prior prescribed offence convictions, driver must ensure passenger comply with seatbelt requirements and driving of motor vehicle without a driver's licence repeat offender.

He has been remanded in custody for the matter to be mentioned in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

One of the passenger's, a 19-year-old Coorparoo woman has been issued with a Notice to Appear for one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 30 September.

The other occupants, two women aged in their 20s, were released without charge.

Investigations are continuing, including whether an abandoned vehicle located on fire in Creek Street, Pimpama around 12.35am, is connected to this incident.
