A man was taken to hospital in a critical condition after allegedly being assaulted by a family member in the Illawarra.
Around 8pm Sunday,police and ambulance paramedics were called to a home on Bambil Crescent, Dapto, to attend to a 46-year-old man who was unconscious in the lounge room.
The man was rushed to Wollongong Hospital for surgery.
He is reportedly in a critical condition after sustaining injuries to his head.
While at the property, police arrested a 30-year-old man, who was later taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.
He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear before Port Kembla Local Court Monday, 25 May.
