Day of thanks for Queensland's teachers

Minister for Education, Minister for Industrial Relations and Minister for Racing The Honourable Grace Grace

Teachers around Queensland are being celebrated today for World Teachers' Day.

Education Minister Grace Grace has thanked teachers across the state for their dedication and resilience, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"World Teachers' Day is a great opportunity to celebrate the fantastic work of our 78,000 teachers in state and non-state schools across Queensland," Ms Grace said.

"Our teachers have done a terrific job adapting to the many challenges thrown at them during the pandemic.

"Time and time again, they have stepped up and shown us all that there's no challenge they can't overcome.

"Our teachers are the foundation for the world-class education system we have here in Queensland.

"That's why the Palaszczuk Government has committed to employing 6,190 new teachers and 1,139 new teacher aides over the next four years.

"This World Teachers' Day, I want to say a big thanks to each and every one of our teachers for the work they do day in and day out."
