Deadline extended for Event Support Fund

Event organisers now have more time to apply for up to $5,000 from Swan Hill Rural City Council's Event Support Fund.

Swan Hill Rural City Council's Director Development and Planning, Heather Green said the application period had been extended due to the recent lockdown and current COVID-19 restrictions.

Applications will now close on Monday, 12 July at 5pm.

"The Event Support Fund provides assistance to new and existing events that encourage social and economic benefits to our region and have the ability to grow," Ms Green said.

Ms Green said Council hoped the Event Support Program would assist in the continued recovery from COVID-19 and support the community while improving our region's livability, attracting visitors and dollars to our municipality.

In a COVID-19 impacted year, Council still supported a number of community events which shared in over $52,000 to enable a variety of events to be staged such as a car racing competition, lawns bowls tournament, fishing competition, fitness event, markets and Easter festivals.

Ms Green encouraged event organisers to consider applying this year.

"Grants like this support our community and have a significant impact by stimulating the economy, encouraging events to bring visitors to the region and improving our local entertainment," she said.
