Death of an inmate from Joyceville Institution

On December 4, 2019, Glen Vandusen, an inmate from Joyceville Institution died while in our custody following an incident on December 1, 2019.

At the time of his death, Mr. Vandusen, 43 years old, had been serving a sentence of four years, one month and 16 days for Sexual Assault, Assault, and Uttering Threats to Cause Death/Harm since August 22, 2019.

The inmate's next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified. The Ontario Provincial Police's Penitentiary Squad is currently investigating.
