On October 8, 2020, Edward Schwartz, an inmate from Millhaven Institution died of apparent natural causes while in our custody.
At the time of his death, Mr. Schwartz had been serving a Life sentence for Aggravated Assault, Non-Capital Murder, Overcome Resistance, Possess Weapon or Imitation, and Public Mischief and Robbery, since his sentence commenced November 2, 1973.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
