Defence Act charges at Maryborough

Detectives have charged a man for allegedly misrepresenting himself as a returned serviceman at Maryborough.

A complaint was made to police earlier this year after the man allegedly claimed to have fought in overseas war campaigns without being able to provide proof.

The 51-year-old man also held a position with a returned services leagues club.

The Bauple man has been charged with one count each of falsely representing to be a returned soldier and improper use of service decorations.

He is due to appear in Maryborough Magistrates Court on December 17.
