Families visiting Blairgowrie beach this summer will enjoy better access with new stairs providing safe access all the way down to the foreshore thanks to the Allan Labor Government.
Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos today announced the completed rebuild of the Sevilles carpark stairs that provide visitors to Blairgowrie beach with safe, easy access.
Designed and delivered by the Whitecliffs to Camerons Bight Foreshore Reserve Committee of Management, the renewal works were made possible by funding of $50,000 from the Labor Government's Coastal Public Access and Risk grants program.
While the staircase had been closed earlier this year due to safety concerns, the renewal project has delivered a safer and more durable structure, restoring important pedestrian access between the foreshore and Point Nepean Road for the Blairgowrie community.
The Coastal Public Access and Risk Grants Program has seen $1.4 million go to land managers to improve coastal access and safety at Victorian beaches.
The Mornington Peninsula Shire Council also received $150,000 to renew the Birdrock Beach access stairs at Mount Martha.
Locally, restoration work and repairs will take place at sites on Port Phillip Bay and Western Port such as Black Rock, Tooradin, Dromana and Flinders.
