The Crisafulli Government is delivering a better lifestyle through a stronger economy, by empowering Queensland multicultural communities to develop permanent, inclusive community spaces.

Applications are officially open for the first round of its $5 million Multicultural Connect Grants Program, with the Crisafulli Government backing the State's multicultural communities after a decade of decline under Labor.

Eligible multicultural organisations are encouraged to apply for one-off grants ranging from $10,000 up to $500,000 to support multicultural community infrastructure projects in Queensland.

The funding will help to build or upgrade community spaces, halls, meeting places, hubs and sporting facilities to enable access to permanent and quality resources for multicultural groups and the community.

The $5 million program is part of the Crisafulli Government's commitment to stronger communities.

A total of $1.25 million is available in Round 1, with the remainder of the funding to be made available in subsequent rounds across the four-year program.

Projects funded in the first round are to be delivered from 1 July 2026 and financial contributions are to be matched by the applicant.

Over the last year, the Crisafulli Government has delivered:

  • The Strengthening Communities Multicultural Grants program
  • The Celebrating Multicultural Queensland program
  • Injected additional funding in our first State Budget to support the work of Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland
  • Supported cultural events across the State during Multicultural Month (August)
  • Celebrated the contributions of the Premier's 2025 Multicultural Community Parliamentary Reception.
  • Hosted Multicultural Queensland Awards 2025
  • Specifically recognised the contributions of the Queensland African community with a Parliamentary reception with the Premier and more than 300 African and multicultural attendees

Minister for Multiculturalism Fiona Simpson said the Multicultural Connect Grants program was helping to build social cohesion and connected communities.

"The Crisafulli Government is focused on practical action, including these grants, to improve the economic and social outcomes for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds," Minister Simpson said.

"The Multicultural Connect Grants program will provide infrastructure to connect communities year-round and builds on other available government support for cultural festivals and celebrations.

"During a decade of decline, Labor used multicultural communities as nothing more than a box-ticking exercise, but the Crisafulli Government is backing our diverse communities to celebrate their heritage and join us in building a better Queensland with a shared future."

Ethnic Community Council of Queensland Chief Executive Officer Lisa Ward said she encouraged eligible multicultural community groups to apply.

"These grants are a great initiative to help multicultural Queenslanders to upgrade sporting facilities, community centres and other important infrastructure," Ms Ward said.

"Having equal access to quality facilities ensures Queenslanders from multicultural backgrounds have the opportunities they need to thrive, building stronger communities in the process."
