Delivering On Our Elevate Reconciliation Action Plan

We're officially into year three of our four-year Elevate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). From the outset, this RAP was co-designed to be a model for transformational change across BHP's Australian business – to elevate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and to support ongoing partnerships based on trust and mutual benefit.

It's this ambition that continues to guide us, and pleasingly we're on track to achieve all 49 RAP commitments – 3 are fully achieved, 15 have been embedded into business routines and processes, and 31 are on track to be delivered by FY27.

The last 12 months have seen us take further steps to progress relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Some key highlights for FY25 include:

  • Strengthened relationships and elevated Traditional Owner voices through the fourth annual Traditional Owners' Forum in Boorloo (Perth).
  • Celebrated Indigenous employees with the inaugural BHP FIRE Awards at an event in Brisbane to coincide with NAIDOC Week.
  • Refreshed the Indigenous Cultural Respect Framework, to build the cultural capability of our workforce.
  • Launched the Indigenous Support Liaison program at all sites and offices across Australia to improve cultural safety and support the lived experience of Indigenous employees.
