Delivering Safer, More Accessible Sport For Tasmanians

Tasmanian Government

More than 160 sporting clubs across the state have received an infrastructure boost through the recent 2024-25 Active Clubs Program funding round.

Minister for Sport, Nick Duigan, said sporting clubs and organisations across Tasmania will share in nearly $1 million in grant funding, strengthening local communities and delivering grassroots sport.

"We are supporting the upgrade and replacement of equipment across 162 projects statewide, including the Launceston City Cycling Club which will deliver a new road and track bikes," Minister Duigan said.

"The funding round saw successful applicants from across the entire state in a diverse range of sporting disciplines, including archery, surfing, pony club, karting, sailing and croquet.

"By upgrading clubs' training gear, uniforms and safety equipment, we are empowering them to deliver engaging programs tailored for all ages and abilities.

"It's fantastic to have so many regional clubs benefiting from these grants, as well."

The Tasmanian Government is committed to ensuring every Tasmanian can access adequate sporting opportunities.

"Our Government is delivering for Tasmania by increasing opportunities to participate in sport, which we know is about more than just physical fitness.

"It's about supporting mental health, fostering lifelong friendships and building stronger communities.

"We recognise the vital role clubs play in delivering these positive outcomes.

"Our Government is getting on with the job to keep Tasmania moving forward."
