Delivering safer Queen Street Bridge for Altona Meadows

Liberal Party Victoria

Altona Meadows residents and visitors will enjoy safer roads under a new commitment to upgrade the dangerous Queen Street Bridge.

Right now, pedestrians and cyclists travelling along Queen Street risk their safety crossing the existing bridge, which is used by around 19,250 vehicles each day.

That's why a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will provide $3.4 million to construct a new 60 metre shared bike and pedestrian bridge on Queen Street over Laverton Creek in Altona Meadows.

Only the Liberals and Nationals will ensure this project is delivered, after Daniel Andrews and Labor bungled the initial designs bypassing community consultation.

Leader of the Liberal Party, Matt Guy, said this commitment is a perfect example of how investing in our suburban infrastructure truly delivers for the local community.

"Investing in this important project will mean a quicker and safer commute for pedestrians and cyclists, not just for Altona Meadows, but across the south-west."

"This bridge is critically important for all locals, and it's essential for us to invest in the south-western suburbs as they experience continued population growth."

Liberal Candidate for Point Cook, Angela Newhouse, said this commitment was a big win for the Altona Meadows community.

"Despite a wide-scale local campaign, the Andrews Labor Government has failed to deliver a safe and accessible crossing for cyclists and pedestrians."

"I'm proud to be part of a Liberals and Nationals team that's focused on backing local communities and providing real solutions."

Liberal Candidate for Williamstown, Daria Kellander, said this upgrade will ensure local pedestrians and cyclists are kept safe.

"Our community has pleaded for this upgrade for years, and these pleas have been ignored by Labor. Only a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will fix Queen Street Bridge and make it safer for locals."
